Our
story

Two terroirs, one passion

The story of this estate is one of harmony between two vineyards, united by a shared passion: wine. Verzenay, renowned for its black grapes, and Berru, devoted to white grapes, make up the estate. Guided by respect for the land, the estate strives to bring out the best of each terroir in every bottle.

The house’s vision rests on meticulous winemaking, favouring the use of wooden vessels. This approach makes it possible to separate precisely the characteristics of each plot, expressing the richness and diversity of the terroir in every cuvée.

A heritage of chalk and passion
The Adam family has been growing vines for three generations. Although the vineyard is still young — less than a century old — it carries within it the soul and hard work of those who built it. It was Estelle’s grandfather who laid the first stones of this adventure, patiently clearing and planting a promising terroir. His son then took over, refining the estate year after year, learning to read the land, to respect its rhythms and to reveal its character.

Today, this vineyard of character expresses itself above all through Chardonnay, the king grape that covers 95% of the plots. Its natural finesse, mineral freshness and ability to faithfully convey the chalky terroir of Berru make it the heart of the Adam identity. Meunier, which accounts for 5%, adds a touch of roundness and fruit that elegantly completes this family signature.
The meeting of the Adam and Méreaux families is not only a union of hearts: it is the birth of an estate on a new scale. Together they bring 7.5 hectares of vines spread across 8 villages, a rare winegrowing heritage embracing two complementary terroirs, which gives them a unique richness of expression in Champagne.

The story of making their own wine began in Berru, carrying on the family’s cooperative tradition. But the ambition lay elsewhere: to create a winemaking facility worthy of the diversity of the terroirs, able to receive and enhance the grapes of each plot while respecting their identity. This dream, patiently built step by step, took shape in 2024 with the opening of the new winery in Verzenay — a modern facility designed to reveal the best of every harvest, and the tangible symbol of years of effort and determination.

The Méreaux vineyard stretches across four emblematic villages: Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes, Verzenay and Verzy. An exceptional area, classified Premier Cru and Grand Cru.

These plots have been handed down through several generations of winegrowers who weathered the eras and their ups and downs. Independent winemakers in prosperous years, cooperative members when times were more uncertain, vineyard workers when necessary: the Méreaux family has taken on every role, adapting humbly to the economic realities of the Champagne vineyards without ever losing its bond with the land.
